Hellisheiði heath

Winter mood at Hellisheiði, Iceland. Dramatic winterlight and sky. (Christopher Lund/©2010 Christopher Lund)

This image from Hellisheiði, just some 30km east of Reykjavik was shot on the 17th of January 2010 at 14.57 – sunset that day was at 16.25. A few kilometers north of this place lies the Hellisheiði Power Station which is the second largest geothermal power station in the world, and the largest in Iceland. So Iceland is hot even when it’s cold.
